Crane & Hoist Equipment Operator – Mobile Crane

The Boom Truck Operator program offered is for Apprentices on Mobile Cranes greater than 15 ton capacity.
This is a 2-year apprenticeship with technical training.

The first period of training includes 4 weeks of attendance in Edmonton, AB plus 60 hours of pre-registration self-study assignments.

The second year of training includes 5 weeks of attendance in Edmonton, AB plus 30 hours of pre-registration self-study assignments.

Apprentices will learn the basic skills needed to be successful in the trade through theory instruction and hands-on practice.

Theory and practical classes concentrate on operating safety practices, including:

• proper and safe equipment set-up
• load chart reading
• mechanics and maintenance
• safe rigging practices
• Advanced theory includes
• chart reading
• new technology
• lift planning
• advanced rigging and calculations
• multi-crane lifts

ALL OPERATORS MUST HAVE A VALID A.I.T APPRENTICESHIP CARD
